You can feature a regular Sudoku puzzle. It can be monthly, weekly, or daily.
It uses less column space than a crossword. Put it close to the crossword, or next to the stock listings, or any place you have an awkward corner to fill.
For the right publication in the right situation, the puzzles are supplied free of charge.
If you want to recover the cost of the space, you can find a sponsor for the puzzle. Sometimes a sponsor chooses to run Sudoku as a prize competition. The sponsor offers cash or one of its products to the first randomly-drawn correct solution.
The puzzles are delivered to you electronically. They are ready-to-publish, as is.
